According to the latest studies and surveys, trending recruiting strategies in manufacturing stem from three core themes:

  1. Skills: Many manufacturers say the scarcity and cost of talent with the right skill sets are the greatest risks to their business growth, according to a survey from EY. With that in mind, it follows that 35% of advanced manufacturing companies have plans to increase investment in talent, including workforce well-being and skills development.
  2. Reentry: As manufacturers struggle for talent, some are finding a new talent pool in job seekers who previously worked in the industry, found an RSM study. As cost-of-living continues to rise, some employees are looking to return to the manufacturing workforce, which comes with higher wages.

According to a study from EY, “27% of advanced manufacturing CEOs say one of their top strategic priorities over the next six months is to adopt new working models and talent strategies to attract and retain employees.” Another study from the National Association of Manufacturers says that “nearly 50% of manufacturing employees cite flexibility as a reason they stay with their employer, with 63.5% reporting that they would look for more flexibility in their next role if they were to leave their current company.”
