In the Technology sector, today’s technical elite are in a position of high demand and therefore a position of power. In fact, according to research conducted by Dice, in the first half of 2014 alone, recruiters have seen a 34% increase in tech professionals rejecting job offers.

To quantify the value of today’s high-quality tech professional, and to illustrate the importance of strategic talent management, Cielo conducted a global study featuring feedback from more than 750 HR, talent and recruitment executives from across all industries—including the Technology sector.

Our findings, presented in the Cielo Talent Activation Index, identified two groups of organizations: Leaders and Laggards. Leaders are rising above their competition by uncovering the true value of their elite tech employees and undertaking strategic programs to engage and retain them. The following infographic highlights the makeup of today’s Technology Leaders, as well as the ongoing “plight of the Laggard.”

Have you directly witnessed the intensifying competition for tech talent; perhaps competitors attempting to siphon off current employees, or IT and other talent in this industry demanding more from their employers? Higher voluntary turnover? Are their strategies other than those listed above, with regard to strategic talent management, you’ve found to be most influential?

We’d love to hear your thoughts on the Cielo Twitter and Facebook pages!
