Today’s complex work environment means building strong teams is more important than ever. But creating a culture where those teams can thrive requires trust and vulnerability.

Becky Chung, Cielo’s Senior Director of Global Talent Acquisition, recently joined the podcast “Cascading Leadership – The Show” to share her perspectives on empathy and understanding in leadership, where early-stage leaders sometimes go wrong, and how culture connects to problem-solving.

From the podcast:

“If you’re going to have a team that’s truly going to work toward a common goal, you have to have trust. If you have any behaviors that undermine that trust … it’s going to be incredibly hard to move forward. And that’s something that, regardless of where someone lives in the world or what their experiences are, is just a core need people have. If you can’t give people that security, you will never get their full attention and their full energy toward your goal.

The most important part of trust is vulnerability. I believe in being honest about who I am and what I bring to the table, which means I am not perfect; I am me. As a team, we need to be aligned in that and supportive of each other. Have open dialogue because if you can do that, you can do so much more.”
