Some members of the public may associate the concept of “outsourcing” as a desperate measure by an organization to cut costs by shipping jobs to a faraway location. In many cases, however, an organization will outsource a function to supplement their current teams and keep up with demand during times of growth. When an organization outsources its recruitment function, for example, it’s usually because it needs help expanding its workforce quickly and smarly. Paula Parfitt, Senior Vice President, sets the record straight in “The Benefits of Outsourcing,” a new article she wrote for Recruitment International. She points out that outsourcing allows organizations to have access to the skills set of a specialist they might not have on staff, and to better manage the scale of work they need done at a given time. It’s much more of a strategic partnership than a quick-fix, simple cost-cutting measure. Because of the great results it produces, outsourcing – and, in particular, Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO) – is gaining more acceptance by businesses everywhere.

Excerpt from the article:

Previously, recruitment process outsourcing (RPO) was perceived as a way of offloading certain non-core, high-cost, and time-consuming tasks of the human resource department to a service provider. These days, however, RPO activities are considered by many as a necessity for the effective management of efficient talent acquisition, and it’s understood that these partnerships are not just about reducing costs but about creating a strategic partnership that brings long-term value into the organisation. The benefits of outsourcing a business’ recruitment activity is leading to the increased adoption of RPO services. The global RPO market was valued at US$ 5.01 Bn in 2017 and is estimated to expand with a CAGR of 14.4% from 2017-2025. Organisations are not buying resource but are working in partnership to create a bespoke level of service. In other words, they are buying the end result.
