Seb O’Connell, Cielo’s Executive Vice President and Managing Director for Europe and APAC, wrote an article for The Global Recruiter titled, “Leading From the Front.” In this piece, Seb stresses the importance of delivering quality hires to provide a competitive advantage. He then offers four tips to help talent leaders earn trust from the top and be true business partners.
Excerpts from the article:
“According to PwC unfilled vacancies are currently costing the UK economy £10 billion a year. Business leaders recognise the critical role talent plays in their company’s future success. Our recently launched Talent Acquisition 360 research reveals nine in ten (89 per cent) business leaders agreed that talent is a competitive advantage for their firm. This provides recruitment teams with a clear strategic role in business success.”
“Whilst nine in ten (90 per cent) business unit heads stated that delivering quality hires consistently should be the top priority for their internal recruitment team, just over half (55 per cent) rate their performance as effective. To earn trust from the top, talent leaders need to be a true business partner. Here are four steps to success.”
“Top candidates expect a high quality candidate experience. Your recruiters should harness technology to facilitate the recruitment process, but they also need to deliver high-touch recruiting that puts the candidate first. You also need to ensure your team has access to continuing professional development, so that they are equipped to meet business needs consistently. Partnering with outside providers can offer talent acquisition teams access to new perspectives and deep domain expertise, which may not be available in-house.”
